🔥 Brush Fire in Burbank Forces Evacuations as it Approaches Homes
A brush fire—now called the Bethany Fire—erupted on Tuesday afternoon in the foothills above Burbank, near the intersection of Amherst Drive and Bethany Road. Within an hour, it had spread across approximately 8–10 acres, prompting evacuation orders for homes north of Walnut Avenue, along Bel Aire Drive, and areas surrounding DeBell Golf Club.
The Burbank Fire Department, aided by L.A. County crews, quickly halted the fire’s advance by 6 p.m., establishing containment lines and surrounding the blaze with fire hoses. No homes were reported damaged and evacuation orders were lifted by early evening.
Trails and recreation areas—including Wildwood Canyon and Stough Nature Center—remain closed as firefighters continue overnight monitoring and cleanup efforts. An evacuation center was set up at McCambridge Recreation Center in Burbank.
