The family of Edan Alexander, the 21-year-old Israeli-American soldier held hostage by Hamas since October 7, 2023, is celebrating the news of his impending release. In a heartfelt statement, they expressed:
“Today, on Mother’s Day, we received the greatest gift imaginable—news that our beautiful son Edan is returning home after 583 days in captivity in Gaza. We express our deepest gratitude to President Trump, Steve Witkoff, and the U.S. administration for their tireless work to make this happen.”
The family also urged continued efforts to secure the release of all remaining hostages, stating:
“We urge the Israeli government and the negotiating teams: please don’t stop. We hope our son’s release begins negotiations for all 58 remaining hostages, ending this nightmare for them and their families. No hostage should be left behind.
President Donald Trump confirmed Alexander’s upcoming release on Truth Social, noting it as a step toward ending the conflict and returning all hostages and remains to their families.
The release is anticipated within the next 24 to 48 hours, with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff traveling to Israel to oversee the process.
While the Alexander family celebrates this development, they and others continue to advocate for the safe return of all hostages still held in Gaza.
