Early Sunday morning, a tragic mass shooting erupted at the Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, leaving three people dead and nine others wounded during what was otherwise a year marked by record-low gun violence. The deadly confrontation, believed to have stemmed from a dispute, involved up to four shooters firing inside the crowded lounge, as confirmed by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. Law enforcement recovered 42 shell casings from various firearms, and a weapon was found nearby. Authorities suspect gang involvement and are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in a manhunt for the suspects. Meanwhile, Mayor Eric Adams activated crisis response teams to provide trauma support and called on anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers line.
