Outdoor retail giant REI Co-op is continuing its national expansion with the opening of three new stores this summer. The new locations—set to open in Birmingham, Alabama; Missoula, Montana; and Rochester, New York—are part of REI’s strategic growth plan to bring high-quality outdoor gear, apparel, and expert services to more communities across the U.S.

Each store will offer a full selection of gear for camping, hiking, climbing, cycling, paddling, and more, along with in-store workshops and community events. The new locations will also feature REI’s signature gear repair and rental services, helping customers explore the outdoors more sustainably.

With over 180 locations nationwide, REI continues to focus on supporting outdoor enthusiasts while promoting environmental stewardship and local partnerships. As interest in outdoor activities remains strong post-pandemic, the co-op sees these cities as thriving hubs for adventure and outdoor lifestyles.
